Learning sustainability is a life-long process. This challenges education institutions that are teaching sustainability to develop non-traditional programs that enable students to learn sustainability throughout their life. To achieve this, the teaching must focus on an understanding of sustainability as an emergent property of systems, and on understanding what can put systems on tracks that allow sustainability to emerge.
